Rhetorical Context: I am stuck in an elevator in a large party venue with Bernardo and my goal is to convince him to recommend my photography services to his clients.
Bernardo is a successful business owner in Santa Barbara who focuses in party rentals. He has many loyal clients in the area and rents out everything from tables and chairs with canopy to Jumpers for the kids. He also happens to come from the same part of Mexico that my family came from. My goal is to convince him of my skills as an artist so that I can get more clients.
The Elevator Pitch
Bernardo, its good to see you again. Yeah I have been doing pretty well, but I have been thinking of something that will bring both of us more work. I am a photographer/videographer and have been working for years. family portraits, personal photo-shoots, and I even made a movie about where we are from in Mexico. Yeah the Rancho, I covered most of it in the film it is really something you gotta see. I will be sure to send you a copy for the family. While I was filming it, I covered several weddings and quincenearas. The hosts loved the results and I realized that professional photo-booths and shoots of weddings and parties are still very much in the past when it comes to most people there and it is not much different here, but we each have plenty to offer them. You are constantly in business with the community here and offer party rentals that improve the whole party experience. My services as a photographer - an artist really - would greatly improve and add to the party experience in a way that the other party rentals in town do not. I’m selling memories Berna! Picture books, large frames, and unique photo-shoots that they will remember forever. They will remember the family, the party, my services, and yours. I have a card and a website so that people can call me personally or check out my work online. All I want from you is a recommendation that could mean more work for me and happier more loyal customers for you. It only takes a moment and I can even give you cards to place in your shop for convenience.
